Birth Actually was founded in 2016 by Hidya Sahid, a childbirth educator, doula and breastfeeding counsellor based in Singapore. The aim was to provide personalized woman-to-woman support for pregnant mothers and guide their birth partners, through a holistic approach of care with evidence-based childbirth education and practices.
Since then, she has supported over 100 mothers of diverse backgrounds. It is from her own personal experiences and as a birth worker, did she realize that access to good childbirth education and support are still lacking for many families out there.
It takes a village to raise a child. It takes a village to mother a mother too.
Our goals include preventing birth trauma and postpartum depression from happening to mothers during and after childbirth. We ensure that clients are taken care of during their pregnancies, births and that every family gets a chance to establish a successful start in their breastfeeding journey.
Besides our clients, we collaborate with various agencies and private individuals in our outreach efforts to the local community as well as overseas (via remote support). We believe that every woman deserves to have a doula's support to help her ease through such important life events.
We are here to provide that special care and guidance, and aim to make this support accessible to more families in their journey from conception and beyond.
